Stretch won the pitch to deliver a series of ‘Follow procession’ ad campaign stunts for The Met Police operation Blunt anti knife campaign in 7 target London Boroughs. The TV ad depicts a knife crime perpetrator who is followed by the ‘consequences’ of his act including coffin, funeral director, surgeons, police, grieving family, prison officers, paramedics etc. The live performances took the form of a mock funeral procession in busy high streets on two Saturday afternoons in boroughs incl Lambeth, Haringay, Southwark, Ealing, Islington, Newham and Peckham. Leaflets were distributed and the public engaged by local Police on the knife crime issue. A short video was commissioned & uploaded to droptheweapons.org.
Post campaign research by MRUK indicated up to 27% awareness of the knife crime issue in target boroughs and significant local press coverage.
The ‘Follow’ stunts also allowed local Police to reassure and educate the wider community about knife crime and its far reaching consequences.
